On this dive we saw around a half dozen sharp tailed eels exploring the benthos for food - this one was off Harbour Village, Bonaire.

Dive buddy Martin de Weger celebrated his 600th dive with this drift dive we did.

Martin's 600th Dive

Good friend and surrogate brother, Martin de Weger showing the same calm he does when teaching his dive students back in Holland. Water is warmer here around Bonaire, though.

I wanted to see how much of a close-up I could do with the 18-70mm lens on my housed D200. This Spotted Cleaner Shrimp in an anemone turned out pretty well considering I was not use a macro lens. Located off Harbour Village in a cluster of four anemones.

The “Our Confidence” sunk several years ago off of Harbour Village, Bonaire. It sits in about 40-60 feet of water. The main cabin on the deck is about to collapse. Diver in the foreground is Seb Schulherr, famed BonaireTalk moderator.

The Wreck 'Our Confidence'

Swirling above the wreck of the ‘Our Confidence’ was this school of horse eye jacks. I took the shot without a strobe, and this is the Photoshop result.

'Our Confidence' Wreck

Also above the wreck of the ‘Our Confidence’ were a pair of Ocean Triggerfish. I have only seen them one before on Bonaire. These were in only about 5-8 feet of water.

Another shot of the Ocean Triggerfish. I should note that the visibility was poor for Bonaire today, with lots of particulate matter in suspension.

At the northern edge of the channel into the Harbour Village Marina is a great place to see huge varieties and schools of fish, even some exhibiting unusual behavior, like these Black Bar Soldierfish, who were out in the open instead of seeking shelter as they normally do. Photo looks a bit odd because it was intentionally taken without strobes, and then processed through Photoshop to remove some of the cyan, and add in magenta and red.

Seb came across this green moray getting cleaned by cleaning gobies. The moray was huge - body as thick around as my thigh.

Another school of fish found at the marina entrance was this school of gray snapper. All I could think of was how nice one of those would be on my dinner plate. Bad me.
